ABOUT US
GoBabyGo was founded on a mission by Cole Galloway, a physical therapy professor at the University of Delaware. His mission was to study how children learn to move their bodies. He soon partnered with Sunil Agrawal, a mechanical engineering professor at the University of Delaware, who had the ability to help Galloway. Together, they began creating power mobility robots that assisted children in exploring their environment with confidence. But because of the complexity and cost of parts, Galloway and Agrawal were unable to offer them to most families. Galloway's solution to this issue was to turn to Toys'R'Us, which made cheap and reliable electric cars for kids. With this discovery GoBabyGo was born. Unlike the old sophisticated cars, the new electric cars could be made cheaper, faster, and lighter. This change led to a larger customer base that allows for a greater impact. GoBabyGo can be found today in businesses, schools, and organizations all around the country.
Mobility for kids is vital to their development from a young age. The ability to explore their environment is connected to spatial awareness, coordination, visual-perceptual skills, and social initiation with peers. Children with mobility difficulties may not develop in these realms the same way as their peers who are fully able to explore their environment. In these instances, GoBabyGo gets involved to assist in early development.
The GoBabyGo program is focused on assisting children from the ages of 1 to 5 who have a disability that limits them from full mobility. When a child in need is contacted, a custom-made electric vehicle will be made to fit their needs.
Families who have a child with mobile disabilities are often held back from receiving help because of financial situations or hesitation. Typical medical care can be very expensive and financially alarming for many people. GoBabyGo focuses on making custom care accessible for everyone through the offering of free service. Because of our cost-free promise to our customers, we rely heavily on donors and sponsors to fund our program.
